Participation in the interdisciplinary exhibition “Mangrove Ecologies presents Radio Mikoko+” (June 16-21, 2025) at the Botanical Garden of the University of Basel.
More information

The exhibition is the result of a research residency lasting several months, during which I collaborated as part of a group of four artists and scientists from Kenya and Switzerland. The focus is on Radio Mikoko+, a temporary radio format that was brought to life in Lamu, Kenya, during this time. Using sounds, contributions, and voices from the local population and the surrounding area, a polyphonic contemporary testimony of mangrove thinking has been created.
After presentations in Lamu and Nairobi, Basel was the final physical stop. The installation in the Viktoriahaus of the Botanical Garden used sound, material research, and narratives to make the ecological and social dimensions of mangrove landscapes tangible. The exhibition opened up a space for reflection on ecological relationships, knowledge transfer, and transcontinental cooperation.
As part of the closing event on June 21, 2025, I gave a lecture performance entitled «Rooted.»
