The authors Juliet Kothe and Natanja von Stosch have compiled a book with a variety of artistic works on the female breast and explanations of the respective artists. It covers different epochs, art movements and discourses. The images are complemented by three text contributions and my essay on Wangechi Mutu's practice is one of them, alongside those by Cecilia Alemani and Lana Wachowski.
My text goes back to my research trip on contemporary mythologies in early 2023, when I was lucky enough to explore the local stories on the Kenyan Swahili coast.
