Although the field of art could be one of the freest social spaces, some clichés remain surprisingly persistent: from the lonely, misunderstood genius to the young shooting star, from the isolated studio worker in the provinces to extravagant parties in hip studios. Even Rose Wylie, the 90-year-old British painter who only achieved international breakthrough at an advanced age, seems immune to this.

In my review, I wanted to not only discuss the exhibition, but also question the narratives we use to talk about artists' careers.
